KABUL/BERLIN: An official of Afghanistan interior ministry has said neither they have seen the border with Pakistan being fenced nor will they allow it. However, the Afghan media has negated the stance of the government.

Najeeb Danish, deputy spokesperson of the ministry, told the American media that Afghan authorities have not seen construction of a fence on the border so far. He said the Afghan government will stop any such attempt.

He said fencing of border is unacceptable to them and they will not allow anybody to do it. On the other hand, Afghan news agency Khama Press has reported that Pakistan has started building a fence on the border to stop movement of terrorists.

A German news agency has reported that fencing border will lead to deterioration of already shaky relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan because the latter doesn’t recognise this British era frontier.

Recently, while visiting Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the process of building a fence on the border has started.
