Islamabad
The Jamiat Ulemai Islam (JUI) of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pakhtoon Khwah Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) of Mahmood Khan Achakzai have assured Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stand by the incumbent government through thick and thin since the ruling PML-N has maintained alliance with them in a dignified manner. The two parties didn’t support the government on the legislation for establishment of Special Military Courts and amendment in Army Act on Tuesday evening in the National Assembly.
Leaders of both the parties Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mahmood Khan Achakzie called on the prime minister separately at the Prime Minister House. Highly placed sources told The News that both visiting leaders took the prime minister into confidence about their reservations of the constitutional amendment. The prime minister assured the leaders of the alliance that the government wouldn’t permit the Special Courts one day beyond their demand.
Both the leaders who are opposing the Fata reforms suggested by the government commitee of Sartaj Aziz, discussed the situation with the prime minister and impressed upon the need to study the situation in tribal areas with utmost care. It has been officially stated that matters pertaining to present political situation of the country came under discussion during the meeting. The official sources said that matters of national significance and current political situation of the country came under discussion during the meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz and Achakzai. The ongoing development and welfare schemes in Balochistan were also discussed in the meeting.
The prime minister said that development and progress of Balochistan is the priority of the Federal Government, which is evident from the unprecedented development projects initiated in the province during the last three years. “The people of Balochistan will be the prime beneficiaries of our major development initiatives including CPEC and Gwadar Port,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif added.
