Cop on census duty injured in Charsadda attack

CHARSADDA: A policeman sustained injuries when a man opened fire at the census team in the Hari Chand village here on Tuesday, police sources said. They said that one Fakhre Alam opened fire at the census team, leaving the cop Taj Muhammad injured. The accused, Fakhre Alam, was injured in the retaliatory fire by the police. He was taken to a local hospital and later shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The injured cop was also taken to the LRH. The district administration beefed up security after the attack on the census team. It was the first known attack on a census team in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The countrywide census began on March 15.
