OKARA: The District Bar Association members on Saturday took out a rally against publication of caricatures by a magazine in France.
The DBA members after their general house meeting, chaired by DBA president Ch Aslam Javed, took out a rally against the French magazine, which published the caricatures. The lawyers wore black armbands to register their protest.

OKARA: The DBA members on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the District & Sessions Judge Rana Abdul Hafeez court against City A-Division police SHO Inspector Malik Tasawar for arresting advocate Syed Abul Hassan Gilani.
According to the police, Gilani came at the police station to lodge some complaint but he was under the influence. The lawyer and the police exchanged hot words over the issue. Later, the police registered a case against him after his medico legal examination. When the news spread about registration of the case, the lawyers went to the D&SJ court and briefed him about the situation. According to the bar general secretary Rao Abid Mushtaq, the D&SJ directed the A-Division police SHO to appear in the court with the arrested lawyer. Later, the DSP Legal appeared with the advocate in the court who was later released on bail. The lawyer told the judge that the police had allegedly tortured him. At this, the court ordered medico legal examination for further legal proceedings under the law. Meanwhile, the DBA announced to start a strike against the SHO from Jan 19 till suspension of him and registration of a case against him.
