Cash-rich Balochistan Football Cup explodes into action today
KARACHI: Balochistan Football Cup, carrying 37 teams, will explode into action at six divisions of Balochistan on Friday (today).
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is sponsoring the event.
On the opening day six matches will be held. Naseerabad will take on Sohbatpur, Kharan lock horns with Kalat, Qilla Saifullah meet Barkhan, Quetta DFA 2 face Pishin, Gwadar meet Pasni and Dera Bugti clash with Kohlu.
For Naseerabad division matches, College Football Ground Ustad Mohammad will be used, while the Kalat division matches will be conducted at Nawab Akbar Bugti Football Ground, Kharan.
Irfan Kasi Football Ground will host Zhob division matches. The matches of the Quetta division will be played on Nushki Football Ground.
Baba Bezinjo Football Stadium, Gwadar, will host matches of Nakran division.
District Football Stadium, Sibbi, will host the Sibi division matches.
As many as 12 teams will compete in the final round which will be held at Malibagh Football Ground, Quetta, where floodlights arrangements have already been made.
The last year’s winners, Quetta, and runners-up, Chaman, are already in the final round, which will be held from March 20.
A play-off round will also be held on March 18 at Malibagh Ground and their winners will also enter the final phase.
The first play-off will be held between the runners-up of Quetta division and Quetta City, a team which will play the play-off directly.
The second play-off will be played between the runners-up of Kalat division and runners-up of Sibi division.
In every match, bonuses will be given to the teams and cash prizes for the man of the match in each clash will also be offered.
A sum of Rs7 million in cash prizes will be offered. As many as 590 players and 74 officials will be seen in action in the competitions.
The final will be held on April 2 at Quetta. As many as ten referees will supervise the final round in the Balochistan capital.
