12 more terrorists killed in Swabi
SWABI: As many as 10 unidentified bodies were recovered from the mountains of Ajmer here on Wednesday.
Police said all of the victims were shot dead and their identity could not be ascertained. The victims did not seem to be locals of the area. Their bodies were transferred to local hospital for medico-legal examination before burial.
Separately, the security forces killed 12 terrorists in an action taken under the ongoing Operation Raadul Fassad in Swabi while three terrorists managed to flee. According to sources, security force carried out an operation in Swabi on a tip-off by a terrorist arrested during an action on Tuesday in the Malikabad village of Swabi. They said during the operation the forces killed 12 terrorists while three managed to flee. The action was carried out jointly by security forces and the police. SMGs, hand grenade and thousands of rounds were recovered from the terrorists.
The security forces had killed five terrorists on Tuesday while two security personnel including a captain were martyred during an intelligence-based operation in Swabi. The forces carried out the intelligence-based raid as part of the ongoing operation Raadul Fassad in Malikabad village on a tip-off about the presence of militants in a compound. The militants opened fire on the security forces, killing Captain Junaid and Sepoy Amjid on the spot.
In the exchange of fire, five terrorists were also killed. The security forces besieged the compound before the firing took place with the terrorists hiding in the compound. Three were identified as Majid alias Khalid, a resident of Menai tehsil, Topi Yousaf alias Chota Khalid, a resident of Malikabad, and Jawad, a resident of Malakand.
In Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency, Bajaur Scouts recovered a huge cache of weapons, officials said on Wednesday. The officials said the weapons included a number of explosives, hand grenades, ammunition, remote controlled bombs, and bomb making materials recovered from areas of Salarzai tehsil. The action was part of Raadul Fassad operation meant to keep peace in the agency by eliminating militants and their supporters. They said the local people are supporting the forces in the ongoing operation to rid the agency of all kinds of destructive weapons.
In the Dalbandin area of Chaghi, the Frontier Corps foiled a terror bid and seized a large number of anti-aircraft rounds on Wednesday. According to an FC spokesman, following a tip-off, the FC personnel carried out a search operation in the Posthi area near the border and recovered 6,200 rounds of anti-aircraft guns which were to be used for sabotage activities. The Frontier Corps personnel cordoned off the entire area and started search to trace out the suspects. Further investigation was underway.
