Balochistan Football Cup trophy unveiled
KARACHI: The trophy of the PPL Balochistan Football Cup 2017 was unveiled in Quetta at a glittering ceremony on Thursday.
Managing Director PPL Syed Wamiq Bokhari, Chairman Organizing Committee Sardar Naveed Haider Khan and President Balochistan Football Association Rauf Notezai unveiled the trophy at the Serena Hotel.
Secretary General Balochistan Football Association (BFA) Haji Saeed Takkoo and tournament ambassadors were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bokhari said, “After creating momentum in 2016 for the revival of the game in the province, we aim to raise the bar of PPL Balochistan Football Cup 2017 which is a much larger tournament to engage local young talent from the grassroots to recognise their potential. We are committed to improving the quality of life of the players and instilling hope among the disadvantaged in Balochistan through our long-term CSR programme.”
Bokhari thanked the provincial government, Pakistan Football Federation, Balochistan Football Association and tournament ambassadors –- Muhammad Essa Khan, Zahid Hameed, Saadullah, Sher Ali, Nasrullah Khan and Mehmood Ali for their support and cooperation. The mega event will feature 37 teams who will engage in quest for earning spots in the knockout stage from March 10. A total of 74 matches will be played as compared to 33 games in 2016.
The round matches will be conducted at the six divisional headquarters. The semi-finals will be played on March 31 and the final on April 2 at the Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium (Malibagh), Quetta.
