Militants, cop among 10 held by Rangers

The Sindh Rangers on Monday claimed to have arrested 10 suspects, including two men affiliated with proscribed outfits.

A spokesman for the paramilitary force said Mehboob Ali of the Sipah-e-Muhammad and Mohammad Usman of the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar were arrested during raids in Sohrab Goth and SITE areas.

He said the former was involved in shooting at a Rangers mobile in Sohrab Goth area in 2013 and also nominated in the killing of Pashtuns during the year 2012.

Regarding the latter, he said the man was involved in the killings of police officials and carrying out attacks on Muharram processions.

Regarding other raids, he said a member of the Lyari gang war, Naushad, was rounded up in Lyari area. The man is said to be involved in target killing, extortion and different crimes.

The spokesman said a drug den was also busted in Machar Colony and drug peddlers, including a police official, were nabbed during the raid.

The arrested men were identified as Police Constable Danish, Subhan, Azhar Ali and Ubaid. A huge quantity of narcotics was found on them.

Meanwhile, the paramilitary force during raids in Nazimabad and New Karachi areas arrested Mohammed Ali, Zeeshan and Mohammed Amir. They are said to be involved in a number of street crime and robbery cases. Weapons and narcotics were found on them.
