Facilitators of Charsadda attack identified: IGP

Says police fully alert to foil
nefarious designs of terrorists

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Wednesday said the facilitators of the Charsadda attack have been identified and would be brought to justice soon.

Talking to reporters at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where he enquired after the health of police jawans and civilians injured in the Charsadda attack, the IGP said the police force was fully alert to foil the nefarious designs of the terrorists.

The police chief said the terrorists entered Charsadda from Mohmand Agency. He added that four terrorists were arrested in the district last week. To a question, the IGP said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a game-changer for the country and the enemies of the state were conspiring to sabotage this mega project.

The IGP appreciated the achievements of military Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan and the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the settled areas. He said during the last two years over 200 hardcore terrorists were arrested and they were now facing courts.

Nasir Durrani stressed the need for strict checking at the Pak-Afghan border. He said the government would be approached for special gallantry awards for the police jawans. The IGP, accompanied by the capital city police officer, deputy inspector general of police Mardan Range and senior superintendent of police operations Peshawar, went to the bed of constable Hazrat Bilal and other civilians admitted there and enquired after their health.

The IGP was briefed by the doctors about the nature of the injuries and the treatment being given to them. The police chief appreciated the valour and unprecedented bravery exhibited by them against the dreaded terrorists.

He also visited the Intensive Care Unit where he enquired after the health of injured constables Fazal Elahi and Muhammad Ishtiaq. The IGP termed both the jawans an asset to the force and the nation.
