BAHAWALPUR: Syed Masood Ahmad Gilani has been elected as the president of the DBA here.
Masood defeated his opponent Tayyab Zameer by 208 votes. Masood got 507 votes while Tayyab Zameer bagged 299 votes. Likewise, Tahir Mehmood Jatoi was elected as the general secretary of the DBA as he defeated Shoaib Alam Malik by 32 votes. All other office-bearers of the Bahawalpur DBA were elected unopposed. In Rahimyar Khan, Punjab Bar Council member Mumtaz Mustafa penal won all the DBA offices. Jam Abdul Majeed bagged 324 votes and elected as the president while his opponent Wukla Mahaz penal candidate MA Khaliq got 204 votes. Muhammad Rizwan was elected as the VP by getting 304 votes and defeated Faiz Rasool who secured 214 votes. Rana Sheraz Ahmad was elected as the general secretary by getting 306 votes while his opponent candidate A Nisar secured 221 votes. Rana Abdul Jabbar was elected as the joint secretary with 282 votes while his opponent Ch Nadeem Zahid got 223 votes. Hassan Bilal Sheikh was elected as the finance secretary by securing 328 votes while his opponent got 193 votes. Similarly, Ghulam Mustafa was elected as the library secretary by getting 290 votes while his opponent Syed Zahid Maqbool bagged 234 votes. In Bahawalnagar, Pir Iftikhar Chishti was elected as the DBA president by defeating Ahmad Naeem Qureshi. Ch Zulqarnain was elected as the VP and Syed Shakir Ali was elected as the general secretary in the polls.
