Criminal killed in Sadiqabad encounter

BAHAWALPUR: The Sadiqabad police claimed to have killed a criminal in an encounter on Friday.
After getting information that some unknown accused had snatched a bike from a man near Overhead Bridge, Sadiqabad SHO Abbas Akhtar and DSP Ali Raza Shah with a heavy contingent of police reached the spot. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire on them. The police returned the fire, killing one of the dacoits. The deceased was identified as Farid Andhera. The police claimed that Farid Indhera was wanted by the Rahimyar Khan and Sindh police in several cases of heinous nature.
Probe ordered into IUB fraud

BAHAWALPUR: Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Mushtaq has ordered an inquiry into a Rs 6.5m fraud in the varsity’s Finance Department.
A press release issued by the IUB Public Relations Office said that it will be premature to hold any person responsible for the fraud. The treasurer has also refused her involvement in the matter. Meanwhile, the university administration has assured that the action will be taken against responsible official as per rules.
