Mustafa Qureshi pays rich tributes to Dr Amir for promoting education
Dr Amir asks govt to give Pride of Performance award to Mustafa Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Renowned artist and film star Mustafa Qureshi has paid rich tribute to Dr Amir Liaquat for his contributions towards promoting literature. He said while hosting programmes every style of Dr Amir won the hearts of audience and viewers.
Mustafa Qureshi expressed these views during his interview with Dr Amir Liaquat in his morning show ‘Subha Pakistan’ on Thursday broadcast on Geo TV. The audience gave him a standing ovation when he appeared in the programme.
Talking to Dr Amir Liaquat, Mustafa Qureshi, who played different roles in over 500 Urdu and Punjabi films, said he was a great fan of him (Dr Amir) because he had educated people through his programmes and made people laugh and sob.
Mustafa Qureshi told Dr Amir that he belonged to an educated family. He got his primary education from Hyderabad. He said his teachers taught them both modern and religious education. He said seminaries were playing an effective role in promoting education which should continue. Qureshi said he had done master’s in Islamic history from the Sindh University. He said II Qazi and Pir Ali Muhammad Rashdi were his teachers who helped him learn several things. The renowned film star said he started his career from Radio Pakistan’s programme ‘Ahsan Jo Pakistan’ in 1957. Mustafa Qureshi said he joined the film industry incidentally. He said his favourite actress was Shamim Ara whom he met in Hyderabad during a film shooting. He said he met cameraman Raza Mir there and he cast him in his film ‘Lakhon main Aik’. The film was the box office hit making him a superstar.
Mustafa Qureshi said his hit film ‘Mola Jat’ with late Sultan Rahi was exhibited on the cinema houses during the martial law time and it was banned by the government due to some of its scenes. The film producer got a stay from the court and the movie was shown on the cinema houses for four years. His role in this movie as ‘Noori Nat’ made him so popular at that time. He said he still remembered some of dialogues of Mola Jat.
Mustafa Qureshi, while describing his affiliation with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said he loved Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto who hugged him in his first meeting with him. The late PPP leader respected all the artists. He said Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had also given great respect to artists; however, he expressed reservations about the current policies of the PPP. He said he valued the motto of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
He expressing his views about his wife, Rubina Qureshi, he said he first met her in Radio Pakistan in 1971 and married her. He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto sent him with a foreign delegation abroad for the identification of Pakistan.
During the programme Dr Amir Liaquat appealed to the government to give Pride of Performance Award and Presidential Award to Mustafa Qureshi and his wife. He said he had been his (Mustafa Qureshi) fan since childhood. He said his role in film ‘Mola Jat” was unique.
Meanwhile, Dr Amir Liaquat expressed his grief over the appearance of children in the Lahore High Court due to the negligence of parents. He said it was a great tragedy that the father of the children went abroad after which the mother left the children and started living with her brothers in Multan. He said the mother of these children should keep in her mind the noble relation of motherhood.
Dr Amir Liaquat also paid rich tribute to former President Asif Zardari for giving directions for installing filter plants for drinking water in Tharparkar and raising voice against Talibanisation.
