KASUR: Up to 20-hour power shutdown coupled with gas suspension has paralysed life here and in adjoining areas.
Citizens told The News that they were facing an acute water shortage due to the power shutdown, which had left over 100,000 people jobless across the district. They appealed to the authorities concerned to end unscheduled loadshedding immediately. They said that they would be forced to come on roads if unscheduled power shutdown was not ended.
COP KILLED, ANOTHER INJURED: A constable was killed while another injured in an accident near Naimat Chowk in Pattoki on Thursday.
Constables Saeed Ahmad and Mehmood Ahmad were returning from Chunian when their bike collided with a tractor-trolley. As a result, Saeed Ahmad died on the spot while Mehmood Alam was injured and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
