SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (M) says its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under house arrest, has strongly condemned the killing of Asadullah Kumar, a 39-year-old government employee of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, by government forces and custodial killing of Sajad Ahmad Malik of Botagund Veerinag.

A statement quoting the Mirwaiz said, “In the absence of any accountability, the unbridled and trigger-happy forces and police were working on a plan to kill Kashmiris on one pretext or the other which was extremely unfortunate and a cause of serious concern.

“The Heart of Asia Conference held at Amritsar city of Indian Punjab provides another opportunity to the Indian and Pakistani leadership to restore confidence and reinitiate the process of dialogue and reconciliation and move ahead on the resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” added the statement.

It urged the government of India to give up its obduracy and stubbornness and initiate meaningful and result-oriented steps for the resolution of all the pending issues between the two countries, including the all important Kashmir issue.

Hurriyet (M) also denounced the forces for arresting over two dozen youths while carrying nocturnal raids at Tahab Pulwama and use of force on peaceful protestors at Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Palhalan and Srinagar.
