QUETTA: Balochistan police would install biometric system at the arsenal depot aimed at keeping a check on issuance of arms and ammunitions, Capital City Police Officer of Quetta, Abdul Razaq Cheema, told the APP here.
The move came after police officials deployed at Balochistan Constabulary’s arsenal depot sold 750,000 rounds of SMGs and other weapons in Quetta some days back. The police officials and other personnel involved in the scam had set the arsenal depot of police on fire to destroy clues to the robbery.
“The incident of stealing and selling rounds of SMGs is deplorable, and any officials or personnel of police found guilty would not be spared and to be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the CCPO said. He said that a team had been constituted to investigate into the arms scam and take the responsible to task.
