KARACHI: Youngster Muhammad Muzammil defeated surprise opponent 53-year-old Hamid-ul-Haq in the second round of Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Tennis Tournament on Tuesday at PTF Complex in Islamabad.
In the first round, Hamid, a former Davis Cupper stunned fifth seed Usman Rafique to secure an unanticipated place in the second round.
However, the aged Hamid must be exhausted during the second round match after a day of adventure reminding his heydays and eventually lost the match to young Muzammil, who won the match 6-4, 6-3.
In another match, Abid Ali Akbar pulled a big upset against third seed Heera Ashiq and recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Meanwhile, unseeded Haseeb Yaqoob pulled another upset of the day defeating sixth seed Sanaullah Khan in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 score.
