Demo against gas loadshedding
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Residents of various areas on Monday staged a demonstration against gas loadshedding and low pressure on Bosan Road.
The residents of Shalimar East and West, Model Town, Nawabpur Chowk and adjoining areas gathered on Bosan Road and chanted slogans against the SNGPL authorities. The protesters said that low gas pressure had become one of the biggest issues being faced by them. They said that due to low pressure of gas and its loadshedding after 8pm, they could not cook food. The protesting residents said that their children were facing hardships as cooking at their homes was not possible due to low gas pressure and loadshedding. They lamented that they were bound to purchase food items from nearby hotels, which was additional financial burden on them. They said that they could not even prepare a cup of tea. The protesters said that it was difficult for poor residents of the area to buy food from hotels or arrange coals and wood for burning fire in their houses. They said that they were paying their monthly gas bills but still they were deprived of their basic right. They said that they could not afford cylinders for cooking food in their homes. They demanded the government and the SNGPL authorities end gas loadshedding or else they would set up a protest camp outside the SNGPL offices. Meanwhile, the Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry members also expressed concern over low gas pressure supply to the industry as well as domestic consumers and urged the authorities concerned to resolve the issue once for all. The MCCI members complained that low gas pressure was like non-provision of gas. The low pressure of gas had become one of the biggest issues being faced by the industrialists of the area, they added. Unavailability of gas to the industrial sector was playing a devastating role, they maintained. The MCCI members demanded the government take notice of the issue.
