Rawalpindi Cantonment to have a new medical college
Rawalpindi
A new medical college would be constructed in the Rawalpindi Cantonment area where qualified faculty members with modern teaching aids and laboratory equipment would impart quality education in a highly competitive environment.
According to the minutes of the meeting of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), the approval for construction of the state-of-the-art medical college has been given to cope with growing requirements of the students.
An overhead bridge would be constructed on Mall Road while 14 new water supply schemes would be initiated in different areas where residents seek clean drinking water especially in the summer season.
The content of the minutes showed that modern streetlights would also be installed in all areas of the cantonment and work for this purpose would be initiated soon after allocation of funds in this respect.
It has also been decided to give extension in service of the contractual employees, introduce new hiring policy, provide special allowance for the employees who would acquire M.Phil degree and promotion to Grade-7 of those sanitary supervisors who would pass matriculation examinations.
The proposal to approve tender for canteen at CGH was rejected on the basis of the argument that it may create hindrance in the construction work in the premises that would be completed in the stipulated timeframe.
