Opposition to be united on 24th Amendment: Qureshi

KARACHI: Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)  Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the four demands presented by PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are justified, and they would unite the opposition parties over the issue of the 24th Constitutional Amendment.

The PTI central leader reached Karachi here Friday on his four-day visit to the Sindh province.At the Karachi Airport, he was warmly welcomed by PTI Sindh President Dr Arif Alvi, Haleem Adil Sheikh, Shah Zain Qureshi, Lal Malhi and other leaders. A large number of  party activists belonging to all districts of Karachi were present outside the airport to greet their leader.

After meeting the leaders and workers of his party, Shah Mahmood Qureshi led a convoy of hundreds of vehicles and visited Makli and Thatta where he spoke to different rallies.Later, he went to Hyderabad where a big reception was hosted by the party workers in his honour at the Autobahn Road. Qureshi spoke to the workers and talked to the media.

Later, his convoy reached Mirpurkhas and he spoke to the party workers before leaving for Umerkot where he was given a historic welcome. In his addresses on these occasions, Makhdoom said that he was visiting the province of Sindh on the instructions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. He said that this was an important visit, which would leave a lasting impact on politics of Sindh. He said the PTI would unite the opposition parties on the issue of the 24th Constitutional Amendment.

“We know that vested personal interests of Sharif brothers are behind this amendment.” To a question, he said that the role of the army chief Gen Raheel Sharif remained heroic. He hoped that the new army chief would also play his due role in maintaining national defence and integrity and crushing the terrorists.

He said that the case of the government on the PanamaLeaks was very weak so, the rulers were trying to lengthen this case. He said during his visit, he would tell the tales of corruption of the Sharif brothers to the masses. “We will tell labourers and peasants how the rulers looted and plundered them.” He said this system was made to safeguard the interests of the elite class and it could not protect the rights of common man.

Qureshi said during the visit of Sindh, he would tell the masses how a corruption-tainted prime minister had become an obstacle in the way to proper accountability. He said that he would tell the people of Sindh how the PTI could change their destiny and free them from the clutches of oppressing forces. “We are here for a change because the people of Sindh need an alternative political leadership. We will unite the people of Sindh under the banner of PTI.”

He said in the final phase of his tour, he would visit Gaddani and offer condolences to the bereaved families. He said, “We would try our best to resolve their issues and sufferings.”
