Policeman killed in Swabi firing
SWABI: A constable of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) was killed and an assistant sub-inspector seriously injured when suspected militants opened fire on them on the Swabi-Mardan road here on Thursday, the police said.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan Police Station in Razaar tehsil.It was learnt that the slain policeman, identified as Adnan Tahir, and ASI Fazal Akbar were riding a motorcycle and were on way to their homes after performing duty when they came under attack.
Late Adnan belonged to the Adina village. The injured Akbar is from to Garhi Kapura village of the Mardan district. The ASI was first shifted to Mardan Hospital Complex, and later moved to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar due to his serious condition.
On November 10, a stenographer working in the DSP Office at Swabi was killed in the same area by unidentified motorcyclists. Incidentally, he also hailed from Garhi Kapura village of Mardan. A first information report was registered at the Kalu Khan Police Station against unidentified attackers.
