Naresh likely to play in Pakistan Seniors Tennis
KARACHI: Naresh Khatri could be the first Indian to come to Pakistan to play an international tennis event this year.
This was disclosed by the organisers of 1st ITF Karachi Gymkhana Toyota Pakistan Seniors Tennis Championship during a press conference here on Wednesday.
“He is awaiting his visa which is due in a day or two,” said Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) secretary Khalid Rehmani.
“If he gets it, he will be the first Indian to play a tennis event this year in Pakistan,” he said.
“Argentine player Frank Taloto is based in Pakistan so he is definitely going to feature in the event,” added Rehmani.
He added that the event was scheduled from December 1-7 at Karachi Gymkhana in which there would be contests in age categories of 35 (singles and doubles), 45 (singles and doubles), 55 (singles and doubles), 60 (singles and doubles), and 65 (singles and doubles).
“We are also holding side by side a local ranking tennis event in which the singles categories are for men, ladies, under-17, under-15, under-13, and under-11,” said Rehmani.
He added that they were organising a few soft tennis events and an event for special girls.
“Daily allowance of Rs700 will be given to all outstation players, while foreign players will be given complementary board and lodging during the championship,” said Rehmani. He said the last date of entry for local events was November 29. With input from PPI.
