Haripur varsity VC accused of favouritism
HARIPUR: The employees of administrative cadre of the University of Haripur on Wednesday staged a protest after accusing vice-chancellor of alleged violation of the Universities Act.
The protesters, including some teachers, boycotted duties and took out a
rally. They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the vice-chancellor.The protesters through a written statement issued to journalists accused the vice-chancellor of hiring his blue-eyed persons in violation of the Universities Act, giving extension to contractual staff for three years, denying promotion to employees of the university and allowing deputations in the university of his favorites despite ban by the Supreme Court.
When approached for comments, Vice-Chancellor Dr Nasir Ali Khan denied the allegations. He said he had not hired anyone in violation of the Universities Act. The vice-chancellor said the issue of the upgrading of the employees would be settled once and for all at the upcoming meeting of university Syndicate on November 29.
