Chitral receives rain, snowfall in 7-months
CHITRAL: The plain areas Tuesday received the much-needed rain while the snowfall blanketed the top of the mountains after almost seven months of long dry spell in the district.
Chitral Town and surrounding localities received rainfall while the mountain peaks including Lowari Top, Garam Chashma, Bagosht, Kalash and Shandur wore a white blanket. The much-needed rain started late Monday night, intensifying the chilly weather in the mountainous valley.
The Laspur valley in upper Chitral was struck by rain coupled with windstorm confining the residents to their houses and plummeting the mercury. Lowari Top also received one feet of snowfall, forcing the administration to block the road for traffic. The road was, however, opened to traffic in the morning.
People heaved a sigh of relief after the long dry spell that resulted in the spread of various respiratory diseases in the district. The doctors said that rainfall would record a decline in the dry weather-related diseases in the district.
