HANGU: The retired employees of the Municipal Committee in Hangu on Saturday threatened to commit self-immolation if the government failed to release their pension at the earliest. They asked the government to release the pensions withheld for the last four months. Talking to reporters, the pensioners said their families were facing problems to manage their domestic budget due to the non-payment of pensions since long. They said that they moved from pillar to post to get their pensions released but to no avail. They said they had no other source of income. “Shopkeepers have now denied giving items of daily use on credit,” said a pensioner. The retired employees threatened to commit self-immolation if the government failed to release their pension at the earliest.
