Sukkur NAB collected Rs120 million through plea bargaining, claims DG

SUKKUR: The Director-General of NAB, Sukkur, Muhammad Altaf Hussain Bawany, told a press conference on Wednesday that the bureau had collected Rs120 million through plea bargaining.
He said that accused Don Gollo involved in Rs200 million had been arrested. Muhammad Altaf Hussain Bawany said that a corruption case against the vice chancellor of the Shah Abdul Latif University of Khairpur and some other officials was underway, and an inquiry against four parliamentarians was also underway.
He said that NAB, along with Sepco, had recovered Rs300 million from the defaulters of Sepco. The Sukkur NAB director-general said that when NAB initiated an inquiry against the officials of the Irrigation Department, his vehicle was targeted to harass him.
He said that under NAB rules “we can without intimating the chief secretary of Sindh take action”. Muhammad Altaf Hussain Bawany said that Sukkur NAB had received 8,944 complaints since January 2015, and out of this 237 were culminated to complaint verification.
