Factory fined

GUJRANWALA: The Punjab Food Authority team raided a bubble gum factory and imposed Rs 500,000 fine on its owner on the charges of using substandard material in manufacturing of bubble gums, chocolates and candies on Saturday.
The team also seized material that was being used in the preparation of various items. It was the first action of the authority since its inauguration at Gujranwala.
PRESIDING OFFICERS EMPOWERED: The Election Commission has authorized all 289 presiding officers to use the first class magistrate powers during polling process of local bodies reserved seats. According to a notification, the presiding officers are entitled to issue arrest order, award three months imprisonment, and impose fine on those involved in disturbing the polling process.
MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT: A man died in a road accident at Kot Ishaq. Reportedly, an unidentified man aged 60-year-old was crossing a road when a speeding tractor hit him and left him dead on the spot.
