Farmers urged not to set stubble on fire
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The Punjab Agriculture Department Wednesday urged farmers not to set rice stubble on fire to decrease smog.
The Punjab Agriculture Information Department has predicted smog in southern Punjab districts.
Talking to reporters, Agriculture Information Department Assistant Director Naveed Asmat Kahloon said setting rice stubble on fire caused air pollution.
He said dry spell of winter season has also caused smog spread resulting in spread of chronic diseases and road accidents.
The department appealed farmers to avoid setting rice stubble on fire instead use other modern methods to prepare land for next crop.
The farmers are suggested to avoid trees cutting and plant more plants to avoid smog in future.
