Criminal killed in ‘encounter’

KASUR: A criminal was killed during a police ‘encounter’ while two other outlaws managed to escape from the police custody here on Tuesday.
According to the police source, Ilahabad police were taking three criminals, Walayat, Khairaat and Yasir, to Tiba Bhagiwal, Bongi Kalian, from the Sialkot Jail for recovery purpose. The criminals were involved in more than 57 heinous cases of robbery, dacoity, murder and theft, and different cases were registered against them in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Kasur districts. On the way, seven unidentified motorcyclists allegedly tried to get release the criminals from the police custody and opened fire at the police, which was retaliated. As a result, Walayat was seriously injured. He was being shifted to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. However, the other two arrested outlaws succeeded to flee.
