From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) south Punjab senior member Dr Imran Rafiq has claimed that 13 PMA district bodies have rejected the organisation elections, terming them bogus and fraud.
Addressing a press conference at the Nishtar Hospital on Monday, he alleged that the polls were a violation of the set rules and regulations. He said that the PMA constitution allows 18 PMA district bodies entitled for vote and election of the new body. He claimed that 13 PMA branches had unanimously rejected the alleged fraud election and expressed no confidence in the elected members. Dr Imran Rafiq said that the PMA south Punjab office-bearers from Multan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Vehari also participated in the PMA Punjab meeting where 13 Punjab districts out of 18 rejected the PMA poll. Dr Imran Rafiq said that the PMA Punjab district chapters had demanded include all voters in voters lists and establishment of polling stations in all Punjab districts. He strongly condemned suspension of Lahore Mayo Hospital Dr Mazhar Rafiq and Dr Shehryar Niazi. PMA Multan members including Dr Maqbool Alam, Dr Sheikh Abdul Khaliq, Dr Hafeez, Dr Zulqarnain Haidar, Dr Zahid, Dr Tayyab and Dr Yousaf Leghari, were also present.
