Free eye camp concludes in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The 81st biannual free eye camp at the Darul Hikmat Darul Shifa Hospital situated on Darul Ehsan Samundri Road was concluded here on Monday.
The eye camp remained functional from October 1 to October 31. Total 13,106 operations of eye patients were conducted during the camp while 41,191 eye patients were examined by doctors. Speaking on the occasion, eye camp chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Khalid Latif Mughal informed that more then 80 eye specialists performed duty in this exemplary free eye camp out of which the services of 14 doctors had been provided by the Punjab Health Department while other doctors extended voluntarily services for the cause of ailing humanity. He said that paramedical staff consisting of 250 trained persons assisted the doctors during the process of medical examination and eye operations. Later, he distributed cash prizes and commendation certificate among the doctors and paramedical staff. It is pertinent to mention here that this free eye camp was started in 1976 under the supervision of spiritual leader Abu Anees Sufi Muhammad Barkat Ali Ludhianvi, which is being held regularly twice a year in the month of March and October. After the death of Hazrat Abu Anees Muhammad Barkat Ali, founder of Darul Ehsan, this free eye camp is being organisd under the supervision of Mian Muhammad Shafi and Mian Najibullah, administrator and vice-administrator of Darul Ehsan respectively. The meal/medicines, accommodations, other medical facilities and lens for eyes are also provided to the poor and deserving patients without any cost during the camp.
