155 booked for taking policemen hostage

BAHAWALPUR: Channi Goth police on Sunday registered a case against 155 accused, including 45 nominated, on the charge of taking policemen hostage and arrested 28 of them.
Six policemen, including ASI Mehboob Ahmad, entered the house of Nazar Jam at Basti Faridabad on Saturday night and allegedly started torturing the family without any search warrant and case against them.
On their hue and cry, locals gathered there and took the policemen hostage and confined them in a room.
On information, SHO Saifullah Malhi with a heavy police contingent rushed to the spot and got the policemen released.
The victim family has appealed to the chief minister and the IGP to take notice of the alleged police highhandedness and provide them justice.
