Aqeel Khan clinches ATT Tennis Championship title
KARACHI: Aqeel Khan beat Mohammad Mushtaq to clinch the title of OGDCL-Tajammul Abbas Memorial ATT Tennis Championships at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.
Aqeel built up the winning 3-1 lead by breaking fourth game of his opponent at the score of 0-40 and won the first set 6-3.
Mushtaq started the second set in an aggressive style and built up a 2-0 lead by breaking second game of Aqeel.
But Aqeel leveled the score 2-2 all by breaking third game of Mushtaq.
The score then went up to 3-all before Aqeel started playing some attacking game on the net and broke the seventh game of Mushtaq and took the lead to 4-3. Aqeel kept up the pressure and maintained his powerful forehand and backhand drives, winning the second set 6-3, breaking ninth game of Mushtaq.
The match lasted only one hour and 30 minutes. Aqeel received 900 dollars, while Mushtaq got 600 dollars. With two back-to-back victories in Asian Tennis Tour events, Aqeel has gained points in ATF Rankings.
