32 candidates file papers for PP-78 by-polls

JHANG: As many as 32 candidates have filed nomination papers for PP-78 by-elections here.
Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi is also among the candidates who have filed the papers. The Election Commission of Pakistan, in compliance with the decision of the Supreme Court, had de-seated PML-N Punjab Assembly member Rashida Yaqoob Sheikh and issued a notification in this regard. According to the elections schedule, the final list of contestants would be finalised and displayed on Nov 11 while polling would be held on Dec 1. District Election Officer Lahore III Tanveerul Hassan would be the returning officer while the Jhang EDO Education and the Jhang AC would perform duty as the assistant returning officers. Former MPA Rashida Yaqoob Sheikh, MNA Sh Akram’s sons Fawad Akram and Sheraz Akram, have also filed their nomination papers for the by-election.
MAN KILLS SISTER: A man killed his sister over a domestic dispute at Chak 265 on Saturday. Accused Asad and his sister Asma quarreled over a domestic issue. Later, accused Asad allegedly shot his sister dead and escaped. Police have started investigation.
