Imran, Qureshi, Naeem put under house arrest
ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Naeem-ul-Haq and some other prominent leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were put under house arrest on late night Thursday, the sources told The News.
The government decided to curtail the movement of Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed with the top leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to counter their plan to lock down the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the sources said.
“The entire leadership will be under house arrest from Friday,” the sources said and added that heavy contingents of the Islamabad Police, with armed personnel of paramilitary forces had been deployed at Imran Khan's residence at Bannigala late Thursday night.
"Imran Khan, the PTI leadership and Sh Rashid will not be allowed to attend Lal Havaili protest on Friday," the sources said. Following the counter strategy, heavy contingents of paramilitary forces had been called in to assist the local police, the sources concluded.
