JAS against dialogue with Taliban
Allama Mazhar Saeed Kazmi says JAS to launch ‘Yes to Pakistan Campaign’
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The Jamaat Ahle Sunnat (JAS) has rejected a dialogue option with Taliban and decided to launch the ‘Yes to Pakistan Campaign’ to counter growing extremism and terrorism in the country.
Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Thursday, JAS chief Allama Syed Mazhar Saeed Kazmi and Nazim-e-Ala Allama Syed Riaz Hussain Shah announced holding the first ‘Yes to Pakistan’ convention in Rawalpindi on October 29. Similar conventions would also be organised across the country, they added.
Speaking on the occasion, Allama Saeed Kazmi said that there was no need to hold dialogue with Taliban and criticised those advocating for dialogue. He said that Taliban were creating unrest in the country. He said that the country was passing through a critical juncture. Therefore, the top priority should be elimination of terrorist networks, working across the country, he added. He paid tributes to the martyrs of armed forces for sacrificing their lives for the motherland. Jamaat Ahle Sunnat chief Allama Saeed Kazmi said that his party would organise countrywide dialogue on strengthening Pakistan nationalism to counter growing extremism. He demanded the government take strict action against the terrorists and their facilitators across the country. He condemned the Quetta carnage and demanded the government exposed those, who were behind the massacre of police recruits. He demanded a complete ban on the defunct organisations working under new names and titles. He said that Pakistan came into being in result of a restless struggle of the Ulema and they would protect it at all costs. He said that the JAS would not compromise on giving relaxation to the elements, promoting religious hatred in the country.
Allama Syed Riaz Hussain Shah, in his address, said that his organisation had planned to promote nationalism at the school and college levels. In his connection, the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat would organise seminars in the educational institutions, he added. Jamaat Ahle Sunnat office-bearers Allama Farooq Khan Saeedi, Wasim Mumtaz advocate and others were also present on the occasion.
