SHO, 3 others booked for torturing journalist

FAISALABAD: On the order of Regional Police Officer (RPO), police on Tuesday booked Rail Bazaar police SHO Malik Jahangir and three other police officials on the charge of torturing a local journalist.
The case was registered against the SHO and ASI Muhammad Shahid, Malik Imran and Imran Wahla. The policemen are also suspended by the RPO. The policemen had tortured Nadeem Jawidani, member of the Faisalabad Press Club, at Chowk Kutchehry Bazaar and later shifted him to the police station in a police van where he was again tortured. Faisalabad Press Club president Shahid Ali, vice-president Ejaz Ansari, secretary Muhammad Tahir and others had condemned the torture of a local journalist at the public place and later at the police station. They demanded strict action against the cops.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A girl committed suicide at Chak 73/JB on Tuesday.
Sidra ended her life by taking poisonous pills. The motive behind the incident is said to be a domestic dispute.
3 BOOKED FOR MURDERING GIRL: On the orders of Additional Sessions Judge Aftab Ahmad, Millat Town police on Tuesday booked three people on the charge of murdering a girl during a rape bid.
The police registered the case against accused Kaleem Ahmad and two others of National Colony, Millat Town, on the charge of torching to death a girl during a rape bid.
3 INJURED DIE AT HOSPITAL: Three youngsters who were injured in separate road accidents died at the Allied hospital here on Tuesday.
Umar Ashfaq of Razabad, Danial of Jauharabad and Muhammad Latif of Risalewala died at the Allied Hospital who were critically wounded in separate road accidents and brought to the hospital.
2 HELD FOR RUNNING TRAVEL AGENCY ILLEGALLY: An FIA team on Tuesday arrested two people on the charge of running a travel agency without having any licence.
The FIA team raided a travel agency on City Road, Sargodha, and arrested Malik Tajwar and Asghar Ali on the charge of running the travel agency without possessing any valid licence or authorisation. The accused were later brought to Faisalabad and sent behind the bars in the FIA police station.
