PO having Rs 0.7m bounty killed in ‘encounter’

BAHAWALPUR: A proclaimed offender who had Rs 700,000 head money was killed during an ‘encounter’ with Rahimyar Khan Bhong police near Punjab-Sindh Border on Wednesday.
According to Rahimyar Khan police, Bhong police raided a hideout of PO Mujahid where he was present along with his three accomplices. The police claimed that when the police raided, the PO and his accomplices opened fire at the police and threw grenades. In retaliation, PO Mujahid was killed while his three accomplices fled, the police claimed. The police said that Mujahid was wanted in dozens of heinous crimes and he was wanted by Kot Smaba police. However, reliably sources claimed that the PO was in the custody of the police for the last many days and he was killed in an alleged encounter. When contacted, the Rahimyar Khan DPO office spokesman denied that PO Mujahid was in the custody of the police and he was killed in an alleged encounter.
