Business community condemns
violation of LoC by Indian forces
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The business community has strongly condemned the violation of Line of Control (LoC) time and again by the Indian forces, and urged upon the UN Secretary General to play his role to defuse the tension on the Pak-India borders.
They stressed the need for de-escalation of tension between India and Pakistan and said that the international leaders should play their role to resolve it amicably otherwise both countries would suffer. In separate statements issued here on Friday, All Anjuman-e-Tajran chairman Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq said that increased tensions would hurt exchange rates while India would have to face considerable losses. He criticised India for violating and promoting war adventure. Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi said that escalation of tension between Pakistan and India had caused anxiety in the business community of both countries. He said that economy was stable but some indicators were disturbing, which should be considered immediately. Situation of exports, remittances and investment was unsatisfactory while energy availability, forex reserves, inflations and law and order were satisfactory, he pointed out. Jalaluddin Rumi said that all the countries except China were shifting their investments to politically and economically stable destinations, which should act as a wakeup call for the policy-makers. He said that shifting of investment had been triggered by the tension between Pakistan and India.
