Rizwan, Palwasha win badminton titles
KARACHI: Pakistan’s experienced shuttlers Rizwan Azam and Palwasha Bashir were crowned champions when they won singles titles of the Pakistan International Series Badminton tournament which concluded in Islamabad on Friday.
Rizwan defeated Hafiz Irfan Saeed 21-15, 21-18 to claim men’s singles gold.
Palwasha got the better of her teammate Mahnoor Shehzad 13-21, 21-18, 23-21 after a sweating affair.
In the men’s doubles final, the pair of Rizwan and Kashif Sulehri whacked Irfan and Azeem Sarwar.
The score was 21-14, 21-13.
The women’s doubles crown went to the pair of Palwasha and Saima Manzoor who defeated Sidra Hammad and Khizra Rasheed 13-21, 21-11 and 21-16.
Among the participants in the event were players from Syria, Iraq, New Zealand, Canada and Nepal.
