Suspension bridge opened in Chitral
CHITRAL: A Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF)-assisted suspension bridge connecting four mountainous villages in remote Sheshi Koh valley was opened Thursday for traffic amidst joy in the area.
Hundreds of residents from the four villages had gathered at the opening ceremony of the bridge, which was completed by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) with the help of PPAF.
PPAF Chief Executive Officer Qazi Azmat Essa inaugurated the bridge.Chief Executive Officer of SRSP, Shahzada Masoodul Mulk, and elite of and officials were also present. Addressing the gathering, the PPAF chief said the community participation in uplift projects was a key to overcoming poverty.
“Participatory approach of development is a must to put the far-off areas on road to progress,” Qazi Essa said and urged the people to jointly struggle for the development of the area.Former union council nazim Sohrab Khan and other elders appreciated the PPAF and SRSP for supporting the people-friendly projects in the area.“It was our longstanding demand. We have been running from pillar to post to build it,” said Sohrab.
