Dacoit killed in ‘encounter’

KASUR: A robber was killed during an exchange of fire with police at Kot Radha Kishan on Thursday.

Police arrested robber Mustafa alias Bali near Cinema Morr during snap checking some days ago. The killed robber was involved in 22 cases. During interrogation, the accused revealed that three of his accomplices were at Kot Radha Kishan area. When a police party along with the arrested suspect raided the hideout, the accused opened indiscriminate fire. The police also retaliated. As a result, the dacoit was injured seriously. He died on way to a hospital. However, the police claimed that the dacoit was killed by the firing of his accomplices.

ELECTROCUTED: A Lesco official was electrocuted in Phoolnagar police limits on Thursday.

Lesco Lineman Maqbool Hussain was repairing high tension wires near Jadda Town in Sarfraznagar sub-division when someone from the grid station switched on electricity. As a result, Maqbool received an electric shock and died on the spot. Police are investigating.

DROWNS: A fisherman drowned in the Ravi near Head Balloki on Thursday.

Muhammad Asif of Bhai Pheru went to the deep waters to catch fish, but drowned. Local fished out the body of Asif from the river.
