He said that the police force had been assigned security tasks in respective areas to give foolproof security coverage to all Muharram processions and Majalis in the district.
He said that the Multan police had adopted special measures for the processions of 9th Muharram. He said that he would personally supervise the security arrangements adopted for the 9th Muharram processions.
He said that the police force had been briefed about security arrangements for the Muharram and deployment of force had been finalised. He said that all possible security arrangements would be taken to avoid any untoward incident. CPO Ahsan Younis said that the police organised a flag march recently and asked the people to inform the police immediately in case of any emergency. He assured that the police force was completely vigilant due to sensitivity of Muharram days and nobody would be allowed to play with law and order.
Meanwhile, the police sources revealed that 200,000 police officers and officials would perform security duty across the province to avert any untoward incident during the Muharram processions and Majalis. As many as 43,000 Qaumi Razakars and 98,000 volunteers would also help the Punjab Police to ensure security of the Muharram processions and Majalis.
The police sources disclosed that the IGP had directed the all RPOs and DPOs to issue special identity cards to the deployed security personnel so that their identity could be verified. They said that the IGP had directed the all RPOs and DPOs to launch a crackdown on display of arms and against vehicles having unauthorised blue lights and green number plates. The sources said that strict action would be taken against those who would use loudspeaker illegally.
