Thatta to have more development schemes, says minister
SUKKUR: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz has said that she is taking steps for bringing improvement to her department and for provision of facilities in the offices of the social welfare department to benefit the people at large.
She said that some new schemes for Thatta district, including the construction of a child protection centre and a building of Darul Aman for the protection of women, would be proposed in the annual development projects for the upcoming year.
This she said while presiding over a meeting with the officers of the Social Welfare Department at the Circuit House in Makli on Wednesday. The Deputy Commissioner of Thatta, Tahir Hussain Sangi, the District Social Welfare Officer, Nasir Baloch, the DIO of Thatta, Jaffar Hussain Panhwar, and others were also present in the meeting.
The minister told the officers of her department that their attendance would be monitored to see how punctual they were so that the people of Thatta were served in a better way. She told them to hold meetings with the heads of various international NGOs who were working in different sectors in the district so that the problems of the people were solved.
The District Social Welfare Officer, Nasir Baloch, briefed the minister on the performance of his office. Later, the provincial minister visited various sections of the district social welfare office.
