KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that Sindh offers Chinese investors all kinds of opportunities due to the abundance of natural resources in the province. He expressed these views while addressing a reception to mark the 67th anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The reception was hosted by Consul General of PRC Wang Yu, and attended by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, Advisor Senator Saeed Ghani, members of the diplomatic corps, prominent politicians, businessmen, and the elite of the city.
Murad Shah invited the Chinese to invest in green energy, including wind and solar, mineral, and coastal development power plants, besides road construction projects. He particularly invited them to develop the Keti Bandar Port.
He said the solid foundation of Pak-China friendship was laid by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and later Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari continued their efforts for deepening these ties.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan congratulated the Chinese leadership and the people on the 67th Founding Day of PRC. He said, “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, our friendship continues to strengthen with the passage of time.” Highlighting the importance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the governor said that it was a game changer, and not only Pakistan, but the regional countries would also benefit from it. “Some countries do not like CPEC; however it is our unwavering resolve that we will be successful in our endeavours.” Consul General Wang Yu while welcoming the guests said China went through great transformation over decades, which brought enormous improvement. “It is the hard work of Chinese leadership and Chinese people that we are the second largest economy in the world; our GDP is over 6 percent,” he said, adding that it was possible because of economic reforms introduced across the board. He said that relationship between both countries withstood the test of time, and the top leadership of both countries visited frequently, helping in deepening our ties.
