Pakistan win kabaddi title in Asian Beach Games
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan overpowered India 30-28 to win their first ever kabaddi gold in the 5th Asian Beach Games at Danang (Vietnam) on Tuesday.
In the title decider Pakistan’s Nasir Ali made a decisive move in the last minute brining Indian attacker down in a flash to earn the gold for the country.
Ikhlaq Hussain and Arbab Hussain also gave a dazzling display of their technique and power.
Talking to ‘The News’ from Danang, secretary Pakistan Kabbadi Federation (PKF) Mohammad Sarwar said Pakistan players exhibited power and stamina to win. “The Indian players were more experienced but the way Pakistan players showed their guts was praiseworthy,” Sarwar said.
He praised Nasir for exhibiting extraordinary skills to win the decisive point for the country. “All four players who were there in the circle during the closing stage of the match gave brilliant account of themselves and made India sweat for every point,” he said.
Pakistan manager Mohammad Ramzan Gumman and coach Nabeel Ahmad Rana also praised the players for showing exceptional composure.
The team returns home on Thursday (tomorrow).
Pakistan players are awaiting Indian visas for participation in the World Cup starting from October 7.
