District Nazim accuses PTI govt of doing injustice to Mardan
Claims Bacha Khan Medical College deprived of 300 kanal land
MARDAN: District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar on Sunday criticised the provincial government for slashing 300 kanals of land from the Bacha Khan Medical College for the construction of the Women University
“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government is bent upon causing harm to this province,” he said while talking to The News. Himayatullah Mayar reminded that the previous ANP-PPP provincial government purchased 1,000 kanals of land for the Bacha Khan Medical College and prepared its master plan.
He said the previous government had approved Rs1,570 million for the project and released Rs800 million to initiate work on the project.“But the PTI government has so far released only Rs24 million for this project. This project will be completed in 34 years if the government releases Rs24 million every year,” he remarked.
Himayatullah Mayar maintained that the PTI government had cut 300 kanals of land from the Bacha Khan Medical College for the construction of Women University without the consent of its principal, board of governors, district nazim and other stakeholders.
“I am not against the establishment of the Women University, but the government should purchase land for it. We will seek stay order from Peshawar High Court against this move,” he stressed.
The District Nazim asked Education Minister Mohammad Atif Khan and other members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly hailing from Mardan to raise voice against this injustice.
He also accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of slashing funds for the Benazir Children Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital, Ring Road, parks and some other projects in Mardan.
“The provincial government claims that health and education are its priorities, but the reality is different. The Rural Health Centres in Bakhshali, Palodheri and Sawaldher that were started by the previous government are still incomplete,” he claimed.“The government has failed to provide equipment to Type-D hospitals of the district,” he added.
