Tribal elders of FR Kohat reject FCR reforms
KOHAT: Elders of Frontier Region (FR) Kohat have rejected the proposed amendments to Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) by Fata Reforms Committee and said the government should ensure the return of displaced families to their hometowns before merging Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a press conference at Naway Killay in Kohat on Friday, the tribal elders declared that decisions being made by a select-group of people could not be enforced on the whole of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). They said that tribal elders should be taken on board in the reforms process.
They added that they would not welcome any law in contradiction to the tribal customs and traditions.Among others, Malik Fida Muhammad, Malik Naib Khan, Malik Yar Khan and Malik Mughal Baz spoke on the occasion.
