40,000 youth to be trained in online jobs, says minister

PESHAWAR:  Senior Minister for Science and Information Technology Shahram Tarakai on Friday said that about 40,000 youth and IT students in the province would be imparted training in the field of online jobs under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Programme.

Addressing students at the Institute of Management Science, he said the program
was aimed at providing maximum opportunities to the students.

He termed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Programme a revolutionary step of the provincial government to empower the youth through effective use of Information and Communication Technology.

The minister said that during the last two months about 700 students had been trained in the field.Shahram Tarakai added that 2100 students would be trained by the end of this year while the total target of the programme was 40,000 students, said a handout.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Programme was launched by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board two months ago. The collaboration was struck with World Bank and IM Sciences Peshawar with the aim to provide maximum opportunities of self-employment to the youth.
