Boys outshine girls in Bahawalpur board

BAHAWALPUR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bahawalpur, announced the results of intermediate annual examinations 2016 in a function at BISE auditorium here on Saturday.
This year the top three positions were secured by the boys of private educational institutions.
Total 42,662 candidates appeared in the examinations of whom 24,664 were declared successful with pass percentage of 57.81.
Hussain Ahmad Madni of the Al-Pine College of Science for Boys, Khanpur, secured the first position with 1050 marks. Muhammad Talha Maqsood of the Iqra Degree College, Sadiqabad, got the second position with 1045 marks and Hafiz Muhammad Ajmal Saleem of the Superior College for Boys, Bahawalpur, secured the third position with 1031 marks.
Noman Mehmood Asadi of the Feroza Higher Secondary School, who secured the second position in the humanities group works as a receipt boy at a toll plaza to support his family.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar said that knowledge was a key, which would unlock the doors of prosperity and progress to make Pakistan an egalitarian state. He said: “The chief minister development paradigm is based on promoting the state-of-the-art education system and it is amply reflected in government’s stringent drive by enrolling 1.4 million new students into the schools along with recruiting 135,000 teachers.” He further said that the Punjab government had established computer laboratories in 6,000 schools with an aim to improve computer literacy in the province. The minister said that the government had acquired land to establish the Bahawalpur women university near Airport Road while the university of animal sciences was also being established.
MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti appreciated the outstanding performance of the students. She hoped that these hardworking brilliant students would provide future leadership, which would bring grace and glory for the motherland.
Later, Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti and BISE Chairman Rana Masood Akhtar gave away medals, shields and certificates to the position holders. At the end of the function, a smartly turned out contingent of police saluted the position holders.
