JHANG: A large number of men, women and children of Low Income Sabzazar Colony on Sunday staged a demonstration against the Fesco officials for allegedly shifting 11KV high voltage transmission lines from Main Road to narrow streets of the residential area just to ensure beautification of a newly-constructed building of an influential person.
The protesters also staged a sit-in in front of the Officers Colony on Toba Road. They chanted slogans against the Fesco officials. They demanded the Pepco MD and the Fesco CEO hold an inquiry against the Fesco officials for shifting high voltage power lines and putting lives of the people at risk.
When contacted, Fesco Jhang division-II Deputy Manager Operations Anwar Tarar said that he had already directed the Sadr sub-division AMO to submit him a report about the issue and stop shifting of high voltage lines and poles to the residential area till re-examination the case.
TWO SACKED LINEMEN BOOKED: On the order of Additional Sessions Judge Ziaullah Gujjar, Mochiwala police have booked two sacked linemen of the Fesco Khewa sub-division in a case of electrocution of their colleague.
